Our Story

Adrienne Hill and Nathan Ruff shared a vision of having a casual outdoor café that served as a local gathering place with fresh, delicious and affordable food. In 2001, they found the perfect spot on the corner of Water and N. Main Street on the plaza of downtown Ashland. Water Street Café has since become a seasonal local hub – a perfect place to eat fresh food, have a glass of wine and people watch. Nathan passed away unexpectedly in February 2020 leaving a hole in Ashland’s heart. Adrienne is continuing the café’s tradition of serving Ashland and its visitors--offering their popular menu including the local favorite, the Cafe Cup. Their outdoor location and easy drive through pick up in the parking lot is well suited for those who want fresh, delicious and quick food without fuss.
